Eight markers, chosen for what they predict

Every marker in the Elite 8 has a documented relationship to longevity, functional strength, or resilience against injury. Together they give a complete picture of where you stand, not a single number that flatters or misleads.

Every 8 weeks, we run the Elite 8 Combine

Modeled after the testing day format used by the NFL and NBA, the Elite 8 Combine is where all eight markers get measured, recorded, and compared against your own baseline. It is not built to rank you against the room. It is built to show you exactly where the last 8 weeks took you.

Baseline
A baseline test on August 8 establishes your starting numbers before the first full training cycle begins.
First Elite 8 Combine
Your first official test lands on September 26, then every 8 weeks after that for the rest of the program.
Culture
Community-driven, not competitive. The Elite 8 Combine is a shared benchmark day, measured against where you started.

The Elite 8 tests, in full

Every protocol below is run the same way at every Elite 8 Combine, so your numbers stay comparable from your baseline test on August 8 through every 8-week cycle that follows.

01Push-Up Max
  • Strict push-ups to failure, no time cap
  • One rep every two seconds, controlled pace
  • Chest to a fist's height off the floor, elbows fully lock out at the top, straight body line throughout

A Harvard study tracking over 1,100 firefighters for 10 years found push-up capacity predicted cardiovascular risk better than a treadmill test did.

Standards
Under 10 repsHigh risk
11 to 20 repsModerate risk
21 to 40 repsGood
Over 40 repsExcellent
02Dead Hang
  • Hang from a bar for as long as possible
  • Arms fully extended, overhand grip, feet off the ground

Grip strength is one of the most consistent mortality predictors across the research.

Standards

60 to 90 secVery good
90 to 120+ secExcellent
03Trap Bar Deadlift
  • One rep max

Total-body strength, benchmarked relative to bodyweight rather than an absolute number.

Target Standard
Men1.5x bodyweight
Women1.25x bodyweight
04Vertical Jump
  • Standing vertical jump, small countermovement dip allowed
  • Best of 3 attempts

Power drops off faster with age than strength or cardio does. The lowest power bracket carries roughly six times the mortality risk of the highest.

Over 20 inExcellent
05Broad Jump
  • Standing long jump for distance
  • Same rules as the vertical jump, countermovement allowed, best of 3

Same power-and-mortality link as the vertical jump, expressed through hip drive instead of straight-up power.

061.5-Mile Run or 1000m Row
  • Timed effort, same course or row every time for comparable results

Cardio fitness may be the single strongest mortality predictor in exercise science, and the benefit doesn't appear to cap out at high fitness levels.

Over 120 secExcellent
08Loaded Carry
  • Walk for max distance carrying roughly 20 to 25% of bodyweight in each hand
  • Ends when grip or form gives out

No mortality data behind this one, but it's the most "real life" test in the set: groceries, luggage, kids.

Performance training for people who never had a team

Elite 8 is built for professionals age 35 to 60, the years when career demands peak and the body starts asking for a different kind of training. Physicians, attorneys, founders, and executives operate at a level of discipline most performance programs are not built to match, yet this group is consistently underrepresented in performance culture. Elite 8 was built to close that gap.

Physicians

Long hours and high stakes demand a program that respects your schedule and measures results the way you measure everything else: objectively.

Attorneys

A precise, repeatable protocol gives you a benchmark you can trust, delivered in a setting built around your calendar, not around it.

Founders & Executives

You already train like performance matters. Elite 8 gives that instinct a structure, a peer group, and a testing day that puts a number to the work.

"Elite 8 comes from the same testing standards I used coaching NFL and NBA athletes and NCAA Division I programs. The markers don't change for who's on the platform. Neither does the standard."
